Introduction
Unlike all the other languages I have created which are presented on this site, Bravalic does not actually belong to a world I have invented. Rather it belongs to a friend of mine who had created his culture and history for a novel he is still currently writing. He needed a language to be created for his people in his universe, and gave me the job of creating Bravalic. He requested rather an interesting blend of a Celtic language with Semitic (which at the time I knew nothing about either) which resulted in a nominal system which appears close to that of Proto-Celtic and a verbal system which emerged as a much watered down variation of the one found in Arabic. Fortunately, these two languages share two major things in common: a dual number and a VSO word order which made morphology that bit more complex, but syntax a bit cleaner. As well as this, nouns are declined for state as in Arabic. The phonology of the language is a definite blend of the two, for example the use of the dental fricative /ð/ and the uvular stop /q/ to appease the two.
Please bare in mind that when you read through the grammar of this language, that this has been taken from something I wrote when I was a lot younger and my linguistic knowledge was a lot less incomplete. The reason why I haven't updated it is merely due to the fact that as a portfolio of my work, I think it is important to view my earlier work and ideas when my imagination seemed to be a bit more free. I will however in the distant future write an entire grammar dedicated to Bravalic when I have smoothed out the rough edges.
